INTRODUCTION: The frequency of actionable mutations varies between races, and Hispanic/Latino (H/L) people are a population with different proportions of ancestry. Our purpose was to establish prevalence of actionable mutations in the H/L population with NSCLC. METHODS: EMBASE, LILACS, MEDLINE, and Virtual Health Library were searched for studies published up to April 2023 that evaluated the prevalence of ALK, BRAF, EGFR, HER-2, KRAS, MET, NTRK, RET, ROS1 in H/L patients. Meta-analyses were done to determine prevalence using a random effects model. RESULTS: Fifty-five articles were included. EGFR and KRAS were the most prevalent genes with high heterogeneity across the countries. The overall mutation frequency for EGFR was 22%. The most frequent mutations in the EGFR gene were del19 (10%) and L858R (7%). The mean of KRAS mutation was a 14% prevalence. KRASG12C was the most frequent mutation with a 7% prevalence in an entire population. The overall frequency of ALK rearrangement was 5%. The mean frequency of ROS-1 rearrangement was 2%, and the frequencies of HER-2, MET, BRAF, RET, NTRK molecular alterations were 4%, 3%, 2%, 2%, and 1% respectively. Almost half of the cases were male, and 65.8% had a history of tobacco exposure. The most common clinical stage was IV. CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of driver mutations such as EGFR and KRAS in LA populations differs from what is reported in Asians and Europeans. In the present article, countries with a high proportion of Amerindian ancestry show a greater prevalence of EGFR in contrast to countries with a high proportion of Caucasians. Lack of information on some countries or studies with a small sample size affects the real prevalence data for the region.

Objetivo: realizar una aproximación a la manera como las mujeres perciben la menopausia y describir las experiencias de la sexualidad durante esta etapa, en mujeres atendidas en dos instituciones hospitalarias en Bogotá, Colombia. Materiales y métodos: estudio cualitativo de tipo fenomenológico. La población de estudio fueron las mujeres con diagnóstico de menopausia atendidas en la Clínica Universidad de La Sabana (Chía) y en el Hospital Universitario de La Samaritana. La muestra se configuró por un muestreo por conveniencia y el tamaño se definió mediante el criterio de saturación de la información. La entrevista a profundidad se utilizó como técnica de recolección de la información y los datos se estudiaron mediante el análisis de contenido. Resultados: emergieron cinco categorías: "Percepción de la menopausia", "Cambios que induce la menopausia", "Cambios en la vida sexual durante la menopausia", "La sexualidad durante la menopausia" y "Apoyo médico para afrontar la menopausia". Conclusiones: la menopausia se acompaña de nuevos significados de la sexualidad y se inicia la construcción de otro tipo de relación de pareja. Las mujeres necesitan del apoyo de la pareja, la familia y del personal de salud.


Objective: To approach the question of how older women perceive menopause and to describe their experiences with sexuality during that stage of life, in women seen in two hospitals in Bogotá, Colombia. Materials and methods: Qualitative phenomeno- logical study. The study population included women with a diagnosis of menopause seen at Clínica Universidad de la Sabana (Chía) and the Samaritana University Hospital. The sample was structured using sampling based on convenience and size, defined by means of the information saturation criterion. Information was collected using the in-depth interview technique, and the data were analysed using a content analysis. Results: Five categories emerged: "Perception of menopause," "Menopause-induced changes," "Changes in sexual life after menopause," "Sexuality in menopause," and "Medical support in dealing with menopause". Conclusions: Menopause brings with it new meanings for sexuality and the start of a new form of building the relationship between the couple. Women need the support of theirs partners, families and the healthcare staff.

Formar profesionales de la salud implica asumir el reto de crear y desarrollar una mente inquisitiva, preparada para estar en un permanente cuestionamiento. Para esto es fundamental que se forje una actitud positiva hacia la generación del conocimiento y la ciencia. Objetivo: determinar la actitud hacia la ciencia y el método científico de estudiantes de pregrado de Ciencias de la Salud. Materiales y métodos: se realizó un estudio de corte transversal aplicando una encuesta auto-diligenciable. Se excluyeron los transferidos de otras universidades y los repitentes. La actitud hacia la ciencia y el método científico fueron valorados con la escala de Hren, que contiene tres dominios: valor del conocimiento científico para la humanidad, valor de la metodología científica y valor de la ciencia para profesiones de la salud. Resultados: se incluyeron 362 estudiantes; un 86,6% de ellos calificó la actitud hacia el conocimiento científico por encima de 135 puntos, valor neutro de la escala. Igual tendencia se encontró en los dominios valor del conocimiento científico para la humanidad y valor de la ciencia para profesiones de la salud, es decir, puntaje de actitud por encima del valor neutro del dominio respectivo. Un 91,4% de los estudiantes calificó el valor de la metodología científica por debajo de 48 puntos. Conclusiones: la actitud favorable de los estudiantes puede ser explicada por el contacto que tienen desde el inicio de su carrera con el método científico y su concordancia con la evolución de la ciencia. El dominio valor de la metodología científica fue el menos valorado por los encuestados y podría relacionarse con el desconocimiento de la misma.


Educating health professionals implies the challenge of creating and developing an inquiring mind, ready to be in a state of permanent questioning. For this purpose, it is fundamental to generate a positive attitude toward the generation of knowledge and science. Objective: to determine the attitude toward science and the scientific method in undergraduate students of health sciences. Materials and methods: a cross-sectional study was made by applying a self-administered survey, excluding those who were transferred from other universities and repeated. The attitude toward science and the scientific method were valued using the scale validated and published by Hren, which contains three domains: value of scientific knowledge, value of scientific methodology, and value of science for health professions. Results: 362 students were included, 86,6% of them graded the attitude toward scientific knowledge above 135 points, neutral scale value. Similar scores were registered in the domains value of scientific knowledge for the human dimension of the students and value of science for health professions. 91,4% of the students graded the value of scientific methodology below 48 points. Conclusions: the favorable attitude of the students can be explained by the contact that they have with the scientific method since the beginning of their studies and its concordance with the evolution of science. The domain value of scientific methodology obtained the lowest grade on the part of the students, which could be related to the lack of knowledge about scientific methodology.


Formar profissionais da saúde implica assumir o desafio de criar e desenvolver uma mente inquisitiva, preparada para estar em permanente questionamento e tentar resolvê-lo. Para isto é fundamental suscitar uma atitude positiva frente à geração de conhecimento e a ciência. Objetivo: determinar a atitude frente à ciência e o método científico em estudantes de graduação de Ciências da saúde. Materiais e métodos: realizou-se um estudo de corte transversal aplicando uma enquête auto-administrada, excluindo aqueles transferidos de outras universidades e aqueles que repetiram algum semestre. A atitude frente à ciência e o método científico se avaliou com a escala validada e publicada por Hren que contem três domínios: valor do conhecimento científico, da metodología científica e da ciência para profissões da saúde. Resultados: foram incluídos 362 alunos, 86,6% qualificam avaliaram a atitude frente ao conhecimento científico com mais de 135 puntos. Presentaram-se valores similares nos domínios valor do conhecimento científico para a dimensão humana dos estudantes e valor da ciência para profissões da saúde. 91,4% dos estudantes avaliaram o valor da metodologia científica com menos de 48 puntos. Conclusãoes: a atitude favorável dos estudantes pode ser explicada pelo contato que eles têm com o método cientifico desde o começo dos estudos e pela concordância com a evolução da ciência. O domínio valor da metodologia cientifica recebeu a avaliação mais baixa por parte dos estudantes. Isto poderia estar relacionado com a falta de conhecimento sobre metodologia cientifica.

Describir la trayectoria de la investigación realizada en el grupo Perspectivas del Cuidado de la Facultad de Enfermería de la FUCS. Métodos: estudio descriptivo que incluyó todos los trabajos de investigación realizados de enero 2005 hasta diciembre 2009. Se analizaron la línea, área, tema y metodología. Se encuestó a todos los docentes sobre la motivación de investigar en los temas específicos de su área de conocimiento. Todas las variables fueron analizadas en Stata 10. El trabajo fue aprobado por el Comité de Ética. Resultados: se analizaron 88 trabajos, doce de posgrados. La línea en la que se ha realizado el mayor número es la de cuidado a las personas, destacándose el área de cuidado del adulto (86/88), de los cuales 21 están relacionados con administración de medicamentos. El enfoque que predominó es el cuantitativo. Conclusión: a los docentes les resulta motivante contar con un grupo de investigación estructurado, esto es concordante con el propósito de las filosofías, modelos y teorías de enfermería donde los fenómenos que deben despertar el interés investigativo en sus profesionales son las respuestas que presenta el ser humano.


To describe the evolution of research activity conducted by the Care Perspectives Group of the FUCS Nursing School. Methods: a descriptive clinical trial which included all research projects produced from January 2005 to December 2009 was performed. The particular line, area, topic and methodology were analyzed. Faculty members were surveyed on their motivation to carry on research on specific topics of their special interest profile. An analysis of all variables was performed using Stata 10. This activity was approved by the Ethics Committee. Results: the study included 88 projects, 12 were conducted by postgraduate students. Most of this research was based on human subjects. Adult care was the major topic (86/88), of which 21 projects were related to medication administration. The approach was predominantly quantitative. Conclusions: faculty members were very enthusiastic about counting with a structured research group which agrees with nursing philosophies, models and theories, where the phenomena which must encourage research is human behavior and responses.

La enfermería es una disciplina profesional cuyo componente disciplinar se fortaleció en el siglo XX. Como es necesario continuar el proceso, es de primordial importancia el aporte de la academia en forma organizada y una de las alternativas es a través de la creación de líneas de investigación. Consciente de ello la Facultad de Enfermería de la Fundación Universitaria de Ciencias de la Salud decidió realizar el proceso con la participación de sus docentes y así orientar las líneas de investigación de acuerdo con las áreas de conocimiento y los enfoques teóricos y metodológicos establecidos. Para el desarrollo se asumió el concepto de investigación integrativa, según el cual las líneas de investigación tienen que ver tanto con el área temática como con el nivel, las fases y los tipos de investigación. El proceso fue cualitativo y se originó con un grupo de dos enfermeras con especialización y experiencia en diferentes áreas y una epidemióloga, quienes revisaron y analizaron los trabajos de investigación realizados por docentes y estudiantes en el histórico de producción investigativa de la facultad, desde 1992 en pregrado y a partir de 1996 en las especializaciones. Los resultados se tomaron como base para identificar los temas de interés de los profesores y se definieron dos líneas de investigación: “Desarrollo histórico y teórico de enfermería” y “Enfermería al cuidado de la persona”. En cada una se determinaron y fundamentaron las áreas que la conforman. El proceso culminó con la creación del grupo Perspectivas de cuidado y su registro en COLCIENCIAS.


Nursing is a professional field whose disciplinary component strengthened in the 20th century. Organized academic support is essential for the process needs to continue. Building lines of inquiry is one of the alternatives. Aware of this the Nursing School of the Health Sciences University Foundation decided to conduct the process with its faculty members and thus orient the lines of inquiry according to determined knowledge patterns and theoretical approaches and methodologies. The concept of comprehensive research in which lines of inquiries are related to the thematic area as well as to the level, phases and types of research, was adopted. This qualitative process started with a group of two experienced nurses specialized in different areas, and a female epidemiologist, who reviewed and analyzed the historical research work production of the faculty and students of the school since 1992 at undergraduate level and since 1996 at postgraduate level. Results were considered as the fundamental to identify the topics of interest of the professors and defined two lines of inquiry: “Historical and Theoretical Development of Nursing” and “Nursing and Patient Care”. Component areas were determined and established in each of them. The ultimate achievement of this process was the creation of the Perspectives of Care group and its registration in COLCIENCIAS.
